8 august 2012 - Mannheim, Otto-Selz Straße. Znudziło mi się nieco w Karlsruhe i miałem jeszcze trochę czasu. Czemu by nie wskoczyć w ICE i nie podjechać do Mannheim? W ciągu dwugodzinnego spaceru udało mi się spotkać tego dziadka :).

8 september 2008 - Schriesheim (DE) – OEG Bahnhof. Another GT8 workhorse of the OEG line. Although these are now twenty years old and new low-floor trams keep arriving, they should be around for a while yet. I expect the Romanians are queuing up to buy them, too.

7 september 2008 - Groβsachsen (DE) - A driver’s eye view of the scary OEG single track in Groβsachsen. Road traffic is two-way, of course, and this is the busy Bergstraβe main road along the valley. Maybe one day they will build a bypass track, but for the moment this is a very interesting place.

8 september 2008 - Groβsachsen (DE) – Cars duck for cover as a tram bound for Heidelberg sweeps down the narrow, gutter-running single track on the former OEG in Groβsachsen village. Even in such a restricted spot, the trams travel fast – I suppose the residents of the buildings on the right are used to it (those still alive, that is……).

8 september 2008 - Weinheim (DE) – OEG Bahnhof. Double traction on the OEG- GT8 cars 106 and 109 form a ‘rundfahrt’ from Heidelberg to Mannheim via Weinheim. I think it is only in peak hours that two-car trains of these trams operate.

I don’t know its new RNV number, though, as in 2008 it was still known as V-01 – it will now be in the 435n series, I expect. It’s now based at the old OEG workshops at Kafertal.

7 september 2008 - Mannheim (DE) – Kafertal, zajezdnia/depot OEG. A diesel locomotive for use when the power is switched off. Although (like all OEG equipment) it’s kept in first class condition, its position right at the back of the shed suggests that it isn’t used much.

7 september 2008 - Mannheim (DE) – Kafertal, depot/zajezdnia OEG. The little OEG electric shunting locomotive stands in the depot yard. It still wears OEG colours and has yet to receive its RNV identity (which is #4351). OEG built this themselves in 1953.

7 september 2008 - Mannheim (DE) – bahnhof Edingen. A control desk in car #71 – neat and functional, with everything close at hand. These trams were designed to haul trailers, so are very quick.

7 september 2008 - Mannheim (DE) – Neckartor. The old OEG was a wonderful line –it’s now fully absorbed into the regional tramway network, so the distinction is becoming blurred. Some memories remain, however, like this lovely ‘grossraumwagen’ kept for special duties. Built by Waggonfabrik Rastatt , this is a double-ended car – note the unusual sliding doors and the three headlights (required by German law for interurban tramways).

17 august 2009 - Mannheim, Depot Käfertal. Wagony czteroosiowe eksploatowano liniowo do początku lat 90. Kilka sztuk pozostało do dziś jako techniczne, a jednemu przywrócono niedawno historyczny wygląd (nie temu).

17 september 2009 - Mannheim-Käfertal. Po połączeniu kilku firm w jedno RNV powstał problem dublowania numerów taborowych. Jednak dopiero cztery lata po zjednoczeniu zaczęto dodawać z przodu czwartą cyfrę wyróżniającą każdego z dawnych operatorów. Jak na razie numery te są tylko na papierze, z wyjątkiem niektórych wagonów dawnego OEG.

17 august 2009 - Mannheim-Käfertal. Co ciekawe ostatnie helmuty wyprodukowano dla OEG jeszcze w 1988 roku. Widoczne 114 i 116 pochodzą z tej serii. Najwyraźniej wiązane są z nimi jeszcze jakieś nadzieje, bo przemalowano je w nowe barwy RNV. Po środku kolejna generacja taboru - Variobahn z 2003 roku.

17 august 2009 - Mannheim-Käfertal. Od lat 60. na kolejce OEG dominowały takie 8-osiowe wagony Duewaga. Ostatnio jednak zaczęło ich ubywać. Ten egzemplarz jest obecnie najstarszy.

Wraz z zamówieniem na 30-metrowe wagony dla Mannheim i Ludwigshafen w latach 1994-95 wyprodukowano 5 wagonów w wersji 40-metrowej, specjalnie dla podmiejskiej kolejki RHB, gdzie zastąpiły składy GT6+GB6. Obecnie po połączeniu przedsiębiorstw są one kierowane do obsługi bardziej obciążonych linii miejskich, a do Bad Dürkheim puszczane są wagony krótsze.

17 august 2009 - Mannheim, Kurpfalzstraße. Równolegle z partią 6MGT dla Mannheim identyczne wagony zamówiło sąsiednie Ludwigshafen w liczbie 14 sztuk. Odróżnić je można po numerach i malowaniu. Wycofanymi z Ludwigshafen helmutami obdarowano wówczas rumuński Arad.

17 august 2009 - Mannheim, Kurpfalzstraße. Turkusowe 6MGT to dominujący tutaj typ taboru. Zakupiono je w jednym rzucie w 1995 roku - od razu 50 sztuk. Były to pierwsze po 24 latach zakupy nowych wagonów. Dzięki nim pozbyto się większości helmutów, które powędrowały następnie przede wszystkim do Zagrzebia.

17 august 2009 - Mannheim, Neckartor. Siódemka z fasonem pokonuje skrzyżowanie, a w tle drapią chmury 30-piętrowe bloki osiedla Neckaruferbebauung Nord. Widoczny na wyświetlaczu napis LU nie jest kryptoreklamą ciasteczek, ale powszechnie tu stosowanym skrótem od Ludwigshafen.
