in poland after the war some trains had both passanger and freight cars - it was called "towos" from "Towarowy" - freight and "Osobowy" - passenger
So, how did the "towos" work? Did they use the cargo crates as seats for the passengers? :-P
no it was something like this: [Locomotive][FreightCAR][Passenger CAR]
Well, that was quite common in Norway too earlier, specially on the small branch lines, where they only had one or two trains per day. This is however history long time ago, and it's not even legal to do so anymore. But I think there still is such traffic on one of the narrow gauge lines in Switzerland.
