20 february 2010 - Alexandria, Karmuz depot. Since the president of Egypt decided to disallow the import of used tram cars, Alexandria has a bit of a problem. On one hand there is neither any money to buy new low-floor trams nor to modernise the tracks accordingly; on the other hand they can't buy used trams which would be appropriate for this network. The only solution - until Khosny Mubarak either changes his mind or kicks the bucket - is to modernise existing vehicles. You are therefore looking at the skelet of a Duewag built locally.

19 february 2010 - Alexandria, Karmuz depot. Alexandria has two tram networks. One of them, called Ramleh lines, is basically one line that runs along the coast. The other (Medina) is the rest of the city tram network. On the Ramleh lines trams use normal pantographs, on the Medina line they still have trolley poles. Two routes (25 and 36) run on both networks - for these APTA rebuilt some Kinki Sharyo cars by adding pantographs.

19 february 2010 - Aleksandria, zajezdnia Karmuz. A tak wygląda pulpit tramwaju Kinki Sharyo – wagony z Kairu wyglądają podobnie. Po lewej strony nastawnik (korbę zdjęto), po prawej hamulec na sprężone powietrze (również bez korbki). Cztery guziki na dole to otwieranie i zamykanie drzwi po obu stronach, a poniżej (poza kadrem) mamy pedał czuwaka i dzwonka. Proste, prawda?
