11 april 1983 - London – Chiswick. Another interesting place in Chiswick works was the bus skid pan. All London Transport bus drivers were taught to control skidding on this special area covered in oil and water – very dramatic to watch. Old RT Class buses with bald tyres were kept specially for use on the skid pan – if a bus turned over (as occasionally happened), it was good practice for the breakdown crews to pick it up again!
